Perrysville -- Robert Paul Allen, 46, of Danville, Ill and former local resident was fatally injured Friday about noon in a one-car traffic accident on Indiana 234 near Silverwood. Allen died a few minutes after he was admitted to St. Elizabeth Hospital, Danville. His companion, William Hastings, 42 also of danville is reported in fair condition in St. Eliz. with scalp and face lacerations and a broken wrist. Allen's car went off the road and hit a railroad embankment a mile and ahalf east of Silverwood. The accident victim was th eowner of the Pow Wow Club at Danville. He was a veteran of WWII and received a medical discharge due to injuries received while fightint in Europe. Born Feb 25, 1919 in Fulton Twp, Allen was the s/o David and Ada (sic I had Ida) Wallace Allen. He was married Sept 18, 1962, to Eleene Maggart. Allen was a member of the Martin E. Utrick American Legion Post at Westville. He also is a member of the Sheetmetal Workers union and a former member of the Moose Lodge. The survivrs include 7 brothers and sisters. They are Mrs. Gay Crowder of Perryslville; Mrs. Marjorie Royer of Rennssalaer. Mrs Avenelle Shoaf of Kingman; Mrs. Frieda Holycross of near Danville, Mrs. Wilma Dunn of St. Petersburg, Fla; Ferris allen of Rt 1 Covington and lowell Allen of Perrysville. He was preceded in death by his parents and 4 other brothers. Fun. services will be held at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home in Covington at 2 p.m. Monday with Rev. Glenn Wray in charge. Burial in Bethel Cem So. of Cats. Military services will be given at the garave by the Westville Legion Post. Note is written in hand (by ?) died 10 Spet 1965 Bethel Cem. near Kingman in Fulton Twp

Funeral services for Robert Paul Allen, age 46 of 2511 Georgetown Road, Danville, Ill and former Fountain County resident who died of injuries he sustained in an accident Friday, Sept 9, 1/2 mile east of Silverwood were held at 2 p.m. Monday Sept 13 at Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home in Covington. The Rev. Glenn Ray, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Covington officiated. Mr. Allen died at Lake View Memorial Hospital, Danville when he was taken after his car hit a railroad embankment on Indiana 234 in Silverwood area. He was born Feb 25, 1919 in Fulton Twp, Fountain Co the son of David and Ada Wallace Allen. On Sept 18, 1962, he married Eleen Maggart who survives. Mr. Allen attended school at Perrysville HS and was an Army veteran of WWII where he served in the European Theatre. He received a medical discharge after being wounded in combat. He was a member of Martin F. Vutrick Post 51, American Legion of Westville, Ill, a former member of the Danville Moose Lodge and member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union, Champaign. He owned and operatedthe Pow Wow Club at 2511 Georgetown Road. Surviving in addition to his wife are five sisters, Mrs. Guy Crowder of Perrysville; Mrs. Marjorie Boyer of Rensselear, Mrs. Avanelle Shoaf of Kingman, Mrs. Wilma Dunn of St. Petersburg FL; and Mrs. Fredia Holycross of Danville, Rt 4 and two brothers, Ferris of Covington Rt 1 and Lowell of Perrysville. Burial in Bethel Cemetery south of Cates with graveside military rites by the Westville American Legion Post. Pallbearers were Frank Wolfe, Harry Beresford, Willis Willis, Grover Alexander, Robert Draper and Marion Johnston.
